    Description

    Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels lauched a new program in 2012 to support our clients for caring for their fur family members.  Since our launch in 2012 with just 1 client we now support over 50 clients and 75 pets and the program continues to grow.  In the early years we provided just food and now we provide so much more and now you can help us with the so much more....
    Providing care for fur family members provides support for our seniors for companionship and family.  Our fur family members keeps us healthy and engaged and improves our quality of life.  Now in our 10th year we are expanding the support for our PALS programs because we know since the start of the pandemic how important a companion animal can be for supporting our wellness.
    Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels now provides the following support for our seniors
    -  Food (standard food for cats & dogs, special diet, soft food and treats)
    - Vet care with our partners Humane Society of Huron Valley.  Ranging from well visits, dental care, shots, spay/neuter, surgery (including an eye surgery for Skye a 19yr+ Persian), tumor removal and tests neeeded.  HSHV matches : for our contributions so the more we raise the more our partner supports our seniors fur friends.  Also, we provide transport to and from vet visits with YMOW staff time.
    -  Grooming for pets
    -  Care items for pets and toys (yes toys are important too and they are part of the connection process)
    We hope you will consider a donation for the Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels PALS program. To operate this program and continue its expansion we have raise over ,000 from local funders and PetSmart charities.  Our next step is to grow this program and we would like to 3x this funding for 2023 so that we can dedicate additonal resources for walking, boarding for short-term to long-term stays when our clients are hospitalized so they don't loose their fur-family members & we would like to offer more support.
